MODEL Hannah Wan shows a satellite smartphone called MAGIIC XPLORE X7 at the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre in Cyberjaya recently. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail officiated the official launch of this Android satellite smartphone.

The MAGIIC XPLORE X7 provides 8 band 4G World connectivity and the world’s first satellite messaging connectivity via the Iridium satellite network.

AdvanceTC Group, which provides the MAGIIC XPLORE X7, said the phone operates on most 3G and 4G/LTE network and on the Iridium satellite network — a synchronised constellation of 66 low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

Its Short Burst Data service provides two-way messaging with location tracking anywhere on Earth.

The MAGIIC XPLORE X7 is a full smartphone with a 5.2 inch full HD screen, a 2.2GHz octa core Qualcomm processor and a 3G/4G/LTE multimode World Modem.

Users can plan and track trips, share locations and let others send messages or monitor safety via Android and iOS mobile apps. The satellite smartphone will be available in the market in about two months’ time, with its pricing said to be within the “mid to high end” range.
